Firsts....and Limericks!

So, my beloved brother, Adeno says among other things that I am "uniquely shaped" to blog and that blogging is a potential outlet for my thoughts and my writings may have the potential to change lives.

Wow. Aren't siblings great to have? Someday, when I am a published writer, that first acknowledgement will have your name on it somewhere. :)

What is also great encouragement to blog is a potentially fatal car accident weeks before a milestone birthday. That kind of experience makes you wonder, did you say enough, love enough, live enough.... The surreal moments when your life flashes before your eyes in what seems like minute long seconds bring to mind "Carpe Diem" - Seize the day! Anyone watched Robin Williams in "Dead Poets' Society"?

So... did I say enough, love enough, live enough? I'll explore those questions while blogging and figuring out what all these settings and templates and layouts and other thingamajigs are so I can at least set up something interesting enough to make your visit worthwhile.

In the meantime, here's something that'll hopefully make you smile. When I'm not teaching my own two kids, I teach 230 others in my regular day job. Something I recently introduced was a form of poetry called Limericks. Here are a few from Clean Limericks for & by Kids which had my Grade 6 kids and I laughing throughout English class:

There once was a Martian named Zed
With antannae all over his head
He sent out a lot
Of di-di-dash-dot
But nobody knows what he said

**********************

There once was a young fellow who thought
Very little but thought it a lot
Then at long last he knew
What he wanted to do
But before he could start, he forgot :)

******************

Cheerio till next time!

  1. Whoa.... This is a historic moment.... I've been waiting for this for some time now. Consider me your biggest fan! Another historic moment for you to savour: Amy, Katelynn and I found out that we'll have a boy come May. How's that for news?!
